• Account Information: Name, email address, and profile photo when you create an account via email, Google, or Apple Sign-In. Authentication is handled by Clerk.
• Photos and Videos: When you grant permission, we access your photo library so you can select profile pictures, banner images, and media content (photos and videos) to display on your band profile. For example, you might upload a photo of your band performing live. We only access photos you explicitly select — we do not scan or collect your full photo library.
• Location Data: With your permission, we collect your approximate location to show nearby bands and venues in your area. You can revoke location access at any time in your device settings.
• Messages: Content of messages exchanged between clients and bands on our platform, stored to facilitate booking communication.
• Payment Information: Payment details are processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive payment credentials on our servers.
• Usage Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated usage data collected via PostHog to help us understand how the app is used and improve the experience. This data is not linked to your identity.
• Device Information: Device type, operating system version, and IP address, collected automatically to ensure app compatibility and security.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

• Displaying your band or user profile to others on the platform
• Processing booking requests and facilitating payments
• Enabling communication between clients and bands
• Sending notifications about bookings, messages, and account activity
• Showing nearby bands and venues based on your location
• Analyzing aggregate, anonymized usage patterns to improve the app
• Providing customer support and resolving disputes
• Ensuring the security and integrity of our platform

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with the following trusted service providers who help us operate the platform:

• Stripe — payment processing
• Clerk — user authentication and account management
• Convex — backend data storage and real-time sync
• PostHog — anonymous product analytics

We may also disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Book A Band, our users, or others.

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, to protect your data. While we strive to safeguard your information, no system can guarantee 100% security. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile settings. When you delete your account, your profile data, uploaded media, and associated information are permanently removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent for data processing (e.g., location or photo library access)
• Object to or restrict certain processing of your data
• Request data portability

Book A Band is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
